If a provider or screener helps you with a reference, do you tip or reward that in a way? Beyond saying thank you? If so, how and how much?

... repeat business. Anyway, I'm not sure how you'd tip a screener.
And of course, saying "Thank you!"
I was thinking of $10 or $20 gift card code via email?
Also, how many references is too many to ask from 1 provider ? Just once? Twice? what is too many?

Assuming providers on average ask for two references, you shouldn't need to ask for more than two references from any one provider if all the providers you see give references and you behave yourself. 
I try to not ask providers for a reference more than once or twice, although my ATF is glad to give me as many references as I need since I've seen her regularly for years.
regarding how many refs is too many, let me refer you to a recent discussion on the chicago board. hard to say how many is too many becuz it depends how recently you've seen her and how many times. it seems excessive to use a girl for a ref 10 times if you've only seen her once... but if you see her very regularly then she will give you several refs but at some point you have to start using different girls as refs before you become a pest.

Little things have a lot of meaning.... and of course, repeat is always welcome.
being a reference is part of what you already paid for
you pay for an hour or two or whatever time you schedule of companionship.
I am not obligated to give reference to NOONE specially if I don't want to see that person again... oh wait.. I may say the list of reason why I WOULD NOT see you!

I don't charge for references and don't have an issue with giving them. It is not automatic for anyone to be given a reference. Most ladies do it on a case by case basis and depending upon how much they've seen someone. There is also limits on how many times they will do a reference. I completely agree on that. I am not telling 20 women you are good for the next 2 years. You saw a few new ladies, now there is no reason not to have another reference.
I do give references to anyone but I do mention if I have only seen someone once. You were good one time, does not mean all that much. I also will say if I know someone well if he has been seeing me for a long time. I think it is important information for ladies to know. Are my references automatic and free? Yes, but I will let the lady know if I only saw you a few times or it has been awhile since I saw you last and I am not answering a shit ton of references requests.
I know from what other ladies have said, they give references on those they feel they know well and will tell guys to ask her first before using her as a reference. I really don't know of anyone that will keep doing references after a few times of being requested or after a certain period. Do I feel they should charge? No, but she can do what she wants. I was surprised at reading that, actually. It is her business to run as she wants. I wouldn't steer business a gal's way if I know they do that. If you look at it this way, even when I give references, I almost always have seen the guy again after it was given. That is thanks enough for me.
Don't ever assume what gals do. I have heard of some weird/stupid/mean/very nice etc things that some do that you would never think anyone does. A lot goes on behind the scenes that rarely gets out about what some do. Sort of interesting at times.
BTW references are not included in the session. It is a choice we make to do that or not. I do, but plenty don't ever answer requests or flat out tell guys no they won't. Seems more likely than not that she won't, from my experiences and/or what i have heard. Much like WhiteLists are our decision.

I have been doing this for years and today is the first time I found out some ladies actually charge to be a reference. I was a little surprised but to each her own. I have heard of several ladies who won't ever be a reference for anyone. Personally I think it's a tad rude of a lady to ask others for a reference but then refuse to do them for others. I also think it helps to keep us a little safer so we should want to help each other. But again, we are our own boss's here so we can make our own rules.
I have never asked anyone for additional $ for this but I certainly do appreciate the occasional thank you from the client and the lady and I certainly would not hate a tip/gift. As someone mentioned already, I think the repeat business is the best thank you though.
Personally I will do up two references if I can. After that I will send a link for a free 6 month trial to p411 so that I can give an 'okay' which is essentially a 24/7 reference for anyone who wants to know if I have seen you. It's way more convenient for everyone involved in my opinion and then I will receive a few free points to use on their site and it costs you nothing. Win/win for you, me and the other lady.
But if you feel so inclined see if she has a wishlist and pick something off of it.
If she doesn't have a wishlist um P411 points (visiting listings outside of her base are at least 20 points), visa gc, makeup gc, grocery stop gc (like whole foods) etc etc.
