Ok fellas. What are some of the cheapest options for a hobby phone? Just text and talk. What do you guys use for burners? I'm looking to pick one up.

From walmart or kmart. They have a lot of selection and a few different styles. I scored a smart phone for like $40. Now I just use a Burner number instead. Cause I keep breaking phones lol

No reason to paid for high dollar phones in pay to play business. When done with business or hobby break the phone. That's what I'm doing when I'm done with business.

When you buy the phone with cash, do they scan your driver's license like they do for pre-paid credit cards?  Since anything can get hacked these days, I'd prefer not to leave any electronic trail.

You likely already have a smartphone. Just get a burner app, pay for whatever unlimited subscription you have and be done with it.

Most are using a VOIP relay that's basically untraceable. You can't beat the convinience of having one phone to lug around.

the address of a business, area code where I don't live, fake name, etc.

Add time every 90 days for $20 card bought with cash at Walgreens, Home Depot or some other generic store.

I did exactly the same thing, works fine and cheap.

But if you have an SO, figuring out a safe place to hide the hobby phone is always an issue.  Many, many threads on these boards on this topic can be found.
