I am looking to start the hobby and wondering on my first. I am 47 and have been married, but sex is non existent. Not having a lot of experience the last few years, but interested in a trying a little on the wild side. I am just wondering if I should jump in with both feet or ease in slowly?

What's your definition here of jumping in versus going slowly? Would slowly be starting in an AMP getting hand jobs or starting with agency versus independents or a short, pure sex versus GFE or PSE?
I know my first was only good because the provider had a lot of experience, including being newbie friendly, so was able to walk me through the event and help get the nerves under control. You've got a lot going though your mind -- will I get busted, will I get ripped off, will someone see me, will I measure up to all the other clients (don't even worry about that one), will I get a disease....
Best advise is probably start with what makes your the most comfortable.

Well yes in a sense. I have a couple of girls I'm looking at and trying to decide. One looks breathtaking, but only does tantra massage, reviews sound like something I would very much enjoy. Another is about my age and a little conservative with her menu. Then there is a third that I am very interested in, but also a little scared. Whatever experience you go for, I would look at someone who advertises themselves as newbie friendly, since they might understand your jitters and be able to put you at ease. If someone offers a lot of BDSM activities, you don't have to take advantage of the full menu - yet.
