You guys are NUTs. They're GREAT. They are the closest thing to BB !!!

The main reasons they aren't more popular is they cost $3.00 or more each, aren't widely sold in most drug stores or convenience stores and are awkward for DATY immediately prior to FS. They feel VERY close to BBFS. I love them, and highly recommend!

BTW, do a search on the GD board. It was discussed MANY times.

Thought about posting this on the Newbie Board but I don't think that's the right place.  I was wondering if anyone has any experience with use of female condoms?  Good, bad or any other info you can provide would be appreciated.  One of my AF's and I are thinking of giving them a try.

I have seen posts by women who use them and are fond of them.  If I remember correctly, Betty of SNJ had good experiences with them.

They are excellent when used properly and with the right kind of penis :)

They are not for all guys, sorry to say.

And, girls be careful when you use it, is very easy to go from female condom to real bare IF the guy (and the girl) are not being careful during intercourse.

Once sex starts, the feeling is almost bare for both and if the woman has a guy who is sneaky, he can - easily - just go under the outer ring and go BARE and she will never notice it!

Check the condom often to make sure the guy is keeping his dong inside the outer ring!

When I choose condoms, I make my decisions based on thinness and condom size.  F condoms do not offer an advantage in terms of thinness or size.

Some people do like F condoms for different reasons.  For example, some people prefer F condoms because they aren't as visible as M condoms are.

You can not gauge the female condom by the same standards as the traditional male condom. Considerations such as how thick or thin it is are completely irrelevant seeing as the entire purpose of thinner male condoms is to increase the sensitivity for the male, but with a female condom the male is completely uncovered. And size is also not a factor for the vary same reason. Yes vagina's vary, but not to the extent to where they would need to manufacture different sizes. The main reason for this is because the female condom does not fit like a glove, but rather is loose and falls into the folds of the vagina.

And actually Female condoms are substantially more visible than the traditional male condoms

Amanda, I didn't really know that much about the F condoms.  My previous knowledge of it was really limited to advice from two friends.

After hearing people chime in positively about the F condom, I will be more likely to try it.

Thanks for sharing this.

but there was a thread on the general board about them. A lot of ladies seemed to think they were awkward when it came time to insert them. Then one lady posted, saying that she loves them, and makes a game out if it by making it sort of a joint effort, and using a toy to insert them. It sounded kind of hot to me, and I can't wait to meet her.

... for me.

I also read that thread and the "playful insertion" idea intrigues me, too!!  I'd be "up" for a try - at least!!

...but the two types of condoms work differently. Comparing their physical attributes is like comparing apples to oranges. They are just different things.

....proper placement can not be achieved. The female condom has an inner as well as a larger outer ring. The outer ring is to keep the condom from being pushed all of the way in during intercourse (defeating the point of using protection in the first place). The smaller inner ring is designed to fit over and around the females cervix. The point of this is to 'anchor' the condom and keep it in place during sex. If the inner ring is not properly placed, the condom is more prone to shift around and make a good bit more noise. It does not make the condom any less effective, just less aesthetically appealing and much more noticeable during play.

Unfortunately the only way to get proper placement is manually. And interestingly enough watching a woman stick a large portion of her hand up her own pussy tends to be a turn off for many men, LOL. I suppose one could use a toy at first and then make the necessary adjustments by hand.

But getting past all of that, intercourse is MUCH more natural for the male. They are ideal for men who have problems maintaining an erection once the cover goes on. My experience has been that guys either absolutely LOVE them or hate them. The ones who dislike them seem to base their opinion on the visual aspects and the ones who love them do so because of the substantially better feel. ....it all comes down to which is more important to you, the look or the feel.

Yes, A provider used it with me and it was an excellent experience.

I was with a lady once and she/we used one.

They do inhibit DATY, but she can have it in before you start playing around and then when the time comes you can just slide in and go for it.  As opposed to waiting for it to be hard and then needing to stop and cover up.

Also good for those guys who don't like a condom.  Closer to bare.

great comments all. I have never had the opportunity to experience an F condom, but it could happen eventually I suppose.

Tattooed_Asian made a reference to thinness and size. Thinness may not always be an issue, if you are older and have a longer date. You may want at least two cups, and want to pace your self? Do you want to get the first cup really quick? Then your refractory period has more time to work. Or, you can go the longer route with a thicker condom. More fun time initially. You might not get off as quick, but you're cutting in to your refractory period and time line?

I like what hungry1951 and MannyNYC said about the fun insertion factor. It could be a huge turn on.

Stud 85 had a good point about DATY, and for once, Smelly had a relevant comment without being sarcastic, or pissing someone off. I love you asshole! Lol. His comment about availability is most likely true, but I don't agree that cost is a consideration. 350 dollars for one hour with a provider. 3 dollars for an F condom? Who cares? The fact that he feels they are very close to BBFS is good enough for me. I grudgingly respect his opinion. Lol. The best thing he said, was to go to the GD board. It's one of the best forum's on TER!

 Peace!

but have found myself going back to the new Skyn polyisoprene condoms. Better heat transfer IMO. Also, I like to alternate thrusting and going back down on a lady (to calm my member when I get too close), then back again to thrusting. The female condom is not made for DATY.

One thing I have noticed too is ladies will often have their hand down at the outer ring of the condom to make sure you are inside the condom and not on the side of it. Can be distracting. The best is when you make enough pre-cum so no extra lube is needed.

I agree with Smelly's post that they provide a more BB feel.  Also, most are made of polyurethane, which is a synthetic plastic that conducts heat better than latex, bringing that into play as well.  For the ladies, these can provide additional protection, since they generally will at least partially cover the labia minora if used correctly.

There are drawbacks, however.  They are more difficult for the lady to insert, and can be pulled out when you withdraw to change positions.  They are also not the most sightly things, but as a guy doing doggie, the sight of your wet co*k going in and out more than makes up for that, lol!

On balance, I would say that used properly, they are preferable to standard condoms.  If you and your ATF want to give them a try, do it.

Namely, for the male....it feels almost like BB.  Some have said that they can't tell a difference.  Especially after the condom has been inside your body for a while (10 mins), it becomes body temperature.

Insertion is an issue, I have found that holding the ring which goes inside your body in a "figure 8" with your thumb and index finger is the best method.  You insert one half of the 8 as far as you can, not far, but as you release it...use your index finger to push the exposed portion of the figure 8 inside as the plastic snaps back to shape.  After that, you can use your fingers to push the inside ring further but once you master the figure 8 routine it typically not necessary.  You can avoid the "half a hand" look, lol.

As for price, as Smelly noted(OMG I can't believe I am agreeing with him on a post), they are expensive and difficult to find.  But I found a solution last year...if you get tested, and you should- go to the local STD clinic.  They have arm loads of Female Condoms that they will GIVE to you, at least they do in NYC.  No one knows how to use them, so they just sit.  The last time I went I think they gave me 30.  A side note to STD screening, if you get tested regularly through your health plan I was told by my doctor (who is aware of my current job) that insurance companies will eventually flag you as high-risk.  So, go to the clinic and tested.

Good luck!  Female condoms rock!

Melanie

First, you really need to put a lot of lube INSIDE the female condom before you insert it.  It isn't nearly "wet" enough to be comfortable, so you must lube it up prior to insertion.

Second, Betty is right on the money.  You have to be careful when a gent enters you....it is just a little too easy to have someone who is sneaky push it to the side.  After you have him in the ring, dont' worry about him coming out.  As long as you get him in there initially, and he's not one that pulls all the way out and thrusts, you're golden.

Once you've gone a round, the outer ring really gets glued to you on the outside (you'll have to experience it to know what I mean) but you have to make sure the guy is inside the ring and hasn't pushed it aside.  I only use FC with gents I know aren't trying to pull a fast one.
