Rescue Center Needs Help Treating Tortured Dog
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- He was bound to a tree, doused with gasoline and set on fire. Now the Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue Center on Long Island needs your help treating the tortured dog.
Named 'Maximus' by the rescue center, the mixed breed dog is being treated for second and third-degree burns and has a good chance of survival. But the costs of the treatment are running high, in excess of $3,000, and the center is asking for donations to help cover the charges.
Maximus will eventually be put up for adoption, but has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

Neither Maximus' former owner or those responsible for his injuries have been found.
I have called the center treating Maximus, there is a picture of him lying helpless on the treatment table, my heart is so broken today after seeing that, I am sending a substantial donation.. I for 1, if I were still up there on long island, I would pass out flyers in brentwood and find these scumbags who did this with money @ their friends noses..
I'm sure in that town, everyone knows who did this shit.Sick fucks like this brag to everyone what they did. I would find the mole in a less than an hour.I have done this,& had the shit beat of of assholes like this and then called the cops on the losers.

Turn in some low life type and get some play money. I know where to spend if it were mine

I don't know what to say, I am thinking of the way he looked in the picture above so helpless.
Can someone please help me try to understand why his happens in a world that knows that animals cannot and do not have innate hatred unless trained and even then , it is what/who raises them that places that disposition in the pet that makes them like that.
I have rescued dogs.. pits, chows.. etc.. I give an animal a chance no matter what they are, you get what you give in this life, this is heartbreaking to say the least.

one can only hope follows in cases like this.
My pets and strays are precious creatures giving only their love and happiness in return for a place to call home. Dogs, cats, even my reptiles have something to give.

As a dog man myself, stories like this are truly disturbing and sad. If there is any justice in the world, the people responsible for this will be brought to justice.
While I come to TER for good-natured fun, it's good to know that there are other people here who care about these realities like I do.
I saw his face for less than a second on tv and my heart sank.
I got 2 pups and I treat them better than I would somebody's kid.
All dogs go to heaven... and I pray Max's owners/offenders never do.... f**kers

Vick is but one criminal in a league that has no dearth of them. Given his lack of intellect, general incoherence, and overall self-infatuation, his actions, although reprehensible, are not surprising. The NFL and his sponsors should drop him immediately.
I'm just trying to put a positive spin on this awful situation and say that I'm really impressed with the viseral reaction we've all had to this terrible crime, and the support and cohesion it has generated among hobying and provider communities. I for one give at least $1,000 per year to the ASPCA, nearly 3 visits with one of Kim's hotties and it is almost as worthwhile. I urge you all to follow Kim's lead and put your money where your mouth is!
