They use a mirror; that's why the phone is in the pic (e)

END OF MESSAGE

I'm perusing BP as I sometimes do and can't help but wonder why most of the BP girls like to have their pictures taken with a cell phone in their hands. What's up with that. For those of you with professional photos I appreciate the effort you put into that.

It's a fast way to get new pictures and use them right away but it often results in some pretty poor pics.

That's not what I mean. They are taking selfies of themselves holding their phones!! However they do that.

Police officers are not legally allowed to own or be photographed with cellular devices. Doing so is known as "entrapment." Therefore, if you see a provider holding a phone in her picture, you can be certain she's not law enforcement. If she was, she'd be holding a gun. If she is holding neither, it's always best to ask, because undercover police are required to be honest at all times.

"I read it on the Internet, so it MUST be true!"  The comments from this provider are simply not true, and anyone believing them could place themself in a bad situation.  If you do not know the law, please do not post something pretending to know the law because you might get others in trouble - even if your intentions are good.

There is NO such statute in MN preventing police officers from owning, using or being photographed with cellular devices.  In fact, MN Statute 169.475 Subd 2 (b)(5) provides specific exception for use of such a device in an emergency vehicle.  Has anyone else reading this ever been driving around and seen cops driving or parked and using a cell phone?  If they were prohibited from doing so, do you really think so many would do so flagrantly? Not a chance.  Do you not think undercover cops use throw aways just like many in here?  Some of those devices are actually department issued and used specifically for LE business.  And a law prohibiting police from being photographed with a cellular device? Hardly! Happens all the time. Use your own heads, people.  That statement about LE and cellular devices is simply wrong!

And the claim that, "undercover police are required to be honest at all times" is completely bogus too.  First of all, the laws apply to LE equally; they do not differentiate between undercover and uniformed.  But LE can legally use deceptive techniques and still have a good arrest and conviction.  It happens every day.  If anyone (provider or client) thinks merely asking someone if they're LE and get a negative reply and then assume they're not LE- you are putting yourself in a potentially bad situation.  Nothing prevents a cop from telling you he or she isn't a cop. Again: If you do not know the law, please do not post something pretending to know the law because YOU might get others in trouble - even if your intentions are good.

My take on the reason for phones in the pic is like many others noted:  A selfie using a mirror.  Why spend a bundle of money for a touched up picture that will make everyone wonder how real it is?  With a cell phone, girls can take instant, up-to-the-minute pics and quickly and easily post right from the phone without transferring or attaching.  Just economics I guess.

For those wondering- my timeout ended many months ago. I have read the board now and then and chuckled.  Same stuff, same players. Read a few things that I KNOW if had been written by others, would have had the board in fits and people screaming.  I really had no intentions of posting again, but I had to reply here because this misinformation could potentially put a newbie or naive person in jeopardy.  Just want everyone to be safe - - whether we agree on other things or not.

I had that thought in the back of my mind, but you do realize that some people might actually believe such stuff?  I think there are some things to kid about and some things not to kid about.  Unless you make it clear at the end you're writing a spoof.  No everyone knows you or your sense of humor.

Ahh, you will all be happy to know I only found girls with cell phones on BP after looking for 2 hours.  None with a gun. I think there is no LE on BP

Not everyone can afford a selfie-stick.

Professional pictures are expensive and not everyone can afford them.

I'm not sure I undrstand why, but some guy want to see the selfies.  I don't care one way or the other.

I think selfies give a little more realistic view of the beautiful ladies, less likely to be airbrushed. Pro photos are great but I appreciate selfies along with.

I think a lot of guys appreciate the authenticity of selfies. Though, it is rare for me to actually use them on my ads. I have 2 photo galleries on my site, pro and selfies and then I also use selfies on social media.

My professional shots, the lighting and angles are just so much better. But men being visual creatures, and the fact that variety is the spice of life, encourages most of us to take at least the occasional selfie if only for novelty!

What I don't understand are all of the women who are showing their full face in these photos, but the eyes are looking at the cellphone, and the expression is one of concentration. If *I* was going to do this, I would frame the shot, then have my thumb or finger ready to press the shutter button on the phone, look up into the mirror, smile and get an attractive photo that shows me in a good light. Not something that seems like a precursor to a bad visit where the provider is doing cowgirl while playing dragon koi on the cellphone.
