I am really bad at counting so maybe we could be a good team! Isn't that illegal now though???
No, card counting is perfectly legal. After all, it's just using your mind to calculate the best play within the rules, so making it illegal would amount to creating a thought crime.

That said, casinos obviously don't like players who are sufficiently skilled to gain an advantage over them. And since they are legally a private club, they may ban card counters. I've never been kicked out of a casino for doing it, but I've been "backed-off" from playing blackjack.

Oh and I agree, I think we *would* make a good team!  ;-)

Hello,

I'm a hobbyist newbie who will be coming to Vegas the first 2 weeks in July to play in the WSOP. When I'm not playing one of my events, I plan to hire the services of a provider(s). I've been reading the reviews here and already have some providers in mind, though ladies please feel free to post in this thread if you are newbie friendly. :-) I plan to be verified by P411 before my trip.

I also have a somewhat unusual question about an alternative method to compensate a provider for her time. Besides poker, I'm an avid blackjack player and know how to count cards. Last year in Vegas, I could only play BJ for so long before a couple of the casinos caught on and stopped me from playing. I was wondering if a provider could help me provide "cover" by sitting with me at the table and playing too.

The idea is that I would of course provide the buy-in, and my partner would only need to play the correct basic strategy, which could even be provided on a "cheat sheet" at the table. I'd be counting cards, so whenever I raise my bet amount in response to a favorable deck, my partner would do the same. The provider would keep, say, 50% of any profit she makes at the table, but would owe me absolutely nothing if she loses.

This would give a chance for a provider to make a lot more than her usual date rate, but with no risk. (I would want to do this at least at a $25 min bet table.) Obviously there is also the chance she would make nothing at the table, but perhaps the fun of playing + dinner (if desired) would be worth it to her. Any private time we spent after the playing session would be of course compensated at the provider's usual rate, regardless.

I'd only want to do this after I had one "regular" session with the provider, so that she can see I'm a legit client and that we have at least some chemistry. I just want to kinda suggest this to see if there would be any interest. If not, that's fine too, and I look forward to meeting some of you lovely ladies in Vegas.

I am really bad at counting so maybe we could be a good team! Isn't that illegal now though???

How do they go about doing that?

I'm kind of a card counter in training, not all the way there yet. How long before you had it down pat?

The pit critter will either tell you that you are only allowed to bet the minimum per hand, or that you aren't allowed to play blackjack at all.

I'm not sure how long it took me to get it "down pat," but I think I got good enough to get an advantage over the house after playing 6-8 long weekend sessions over the course of a few months.

I don't play much in big casinos, but this sounds like a good way for a provider to get 86'd from the property.  And if she's not already in the casino's face recognition database, she will be if they catch on.  If you were backed off a Vegas table before, you should expect to be in it and they do share information.
I've always heard that casinos have an extreme dislike of providers taking a guest (and his money) out of the casino, I would imagine helping a guest beat the house isn't looked upon favorably either.

Well I am VERY sure about this !
and Yep you got it brstlvr.

I have known and been with many card counters ........only in their rooms.
I would never risk being seen with them in the Casino , less alone sit by their side on a table.
Oh and I have been offered many times this type of deal and other deals to help them win money.
Sorry , no  amount of money that could be won counting cards is worth the risk of getting 86'd from a hotel and then your also 86'd from any hotel that belongs to that property.

Being 86'd from a hotel property is not good for my business........ I would never risk that.

Oh the stories these card counters have told me ,...... fake Id's , (so now that is getting into illegal stuff )  changing hair color , disguises ........
No matter what they did , sooner or later they got caught ....... and for the most part it was sooner then later ....... and that was before the days of advanced security technology.

SO , Mr. Bluesbass ( btw your using an Alias  , already less trustworthy , just saying )
But my advise to you - Don't get too cocky.  Maybe for now you only got "backed off" but rest assure the eye in the sky took your photo and now they will be keeping a very close eye on you.
One day if the Casino decides to 86 you from their property ( it is their right , since it is private property they can tell you are not welcomed anymore )
Then if you still come back to the hotel , now you are trespassing.
That gives the hotel the right to call metro on you.
Sorry I wouldn't want to be sitting next to you when that happens ;-) ;-) ;-)

The Casinos are not happy if an escort takes a guest away from the tables.
They will be even less happy that an escort is trying to help a guest win by card counting.

Don't push your luck because you think you have been getting away with this for awhile.
The casinos know exactly what they are doing.
They know that most card counters work in groups.
While you think you are getting away with it ,they have their eyes open to catch the "bigger picture."
CAPEESH ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

These are all reasonable points, and it's why I brought it up. It wouldn't bother me too much if I got banned from a casino, but I'd feel absolutely TERRIBLE if I caused a provider to get banned. So yeah, I'll keep the card-counting and other hobbies separate, even if I found someone willing.

I only play blackjack recreationally a couple of times per year these days (poker is much more profitable and I don't need to hide what I'm doing), so I'd never go to that much trouble, much less do anything illegal like use a fake ID.

Oh, I'm new to the site and used an alias because I erroneously thought that's what you are "supposed" to do on the discussion boards, then I kept using it for consistency. I'm not trying to pull anything shady nor hide my primary screen name.

As I stated, Cindy makes good points. I hadn't thought about how being seen helping a card counter could seriously hurt a provider's business. That's the LAST thing I would want to do!

I wasn't implying that you were thinking or knew about the points that I brought up .
That is why I brought them up. SO you , ladies and others can think about things they may have not considered or known.

Don't take it personally. I didn't mean that is what you are doing or plan to do ......but we don't know who you are. right ? ;-) ;-) ;-)
I was just bringing up something that I know that has been done by card counters.
Just helping to keep our ladies safe. ;-) ;-)
I am sure if you knew about all these things before you posted , you would have never
even made such a post.

Ummmmm ok I am not going to play the dumb blond here or maybe I am just waaaayyyy to  smart and savvy  *wink wink*
BUT, I find it quite interesting that as a newbie you know once you use an alias, yes you keep the
same alias in that thread.
And you figured out how to answer my post separating my quotes ;-) ;-)
meaning not just clicked for my quote to show up on bottom of your post.
BUT  YET you thought that a new discussion should start with an Alias because
"that's what you thought your suppose to do"

Sure , why wouldn't any newbie think that , because looking at the board , most posts are posted with Alias names ........ not. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
What can I say , I am a very observant kinda gal ;-) ;-) ;-)

I was just brining up facts that needed to be known.
and I was just pointing out to you ........ well since you are a newbie ;-) That when you use an Alias it just comes across shady and suspicious.

Well haven't we all learned so many things today *wink wink*
Life is a journey , and we learn new things every day  ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

You know there are many other forums and blogs in the world at which people can post, right? :-)
I kept the same alias for the common sense reason to preserve the continuity and intelligibility of the discussion for readers.

And it wasn't too difficult to figure out how to post multiple quotes. Besides using the same syntax as other forums, it's not exactly rocket science... and I should know, since that's what I do for a living.  ;-)

Exactly. On other forums, it's not uncommon for your user ID to be distinct from your posting screen name. Thus when I made my first post, and I was presented with a drop down menu to "choose" an alias, I assumed I was supposed to pick my screen name separate from the username under which I registered. I had no idea it had anything to do with anonymity; I thought that's just how the forum worked, and it would certainly make sense given the general topic here.

There is nothing insidious going on here. Honest.

Again, I had no idea using an alias was not the standard way to post, until I had already made a post.

You know we are in agreement, right? :-) Once you pointed out that it would be too risky for providers to be associated with a card counter (even an amateur one), I completely agreed and retracted my suggestion.

we are in agreement. ;-) ;-) No worries about that. It's all good.
I did say -
'I am sure if you knew about all these things before you posted , you would have never even made such a post."

Just personally not buying the whole "I used an Alias, because I am a newbie and didn't know better and I thought that's what people do here".
Because it doesn't take a rocket science to see that posts here mostly start with the original handle name , regardless how things are done on "other forms" .
Since that is what you do for a living and you are very savvy , ( well you did figure out everything else ;-) ;-) )
So you didn't see what people do here till after your posted ......... OK, if you say so ;-) ;-)

No worries , no big deal . I do not mean that you meant any harm or anything bad .
I just don't like lame excuses and prefer honesty.
Like you could have just said -  Due to the nature of the subject I chose to use an Alias ;-)
but that's me , I just prefer honesty.

Again , no worries not thinking anything bad of you. It's all good.
Enjoy all Vegas has to offer
Poker , Beautiful Ladies ....... and just be careful at the BJ tables.........
but enjoy the BJ's   LOL LOL LOL
