Seems there is a app to help track hotel rooms and LE is making use.  

Not claiming the sky is falling or anything. Just passing on interesting info.

There is one particular software (name of it escapes me) that will allow LE to pinpoint your exact location based simply on you logging into a social media account. Now while that is pretty creepy to think about, they don't just go around searching for provider accounts on social media, generally it is ONLY used in missing persons cases or in the search for a known bad guy(girl). There is only one jurisdiction (not the one where the recent bust took place) in our immediate area that has this software as it is very expensive. I have seen it work firsthand and it does work extremely well.

Most smart phones automatically tag any photos with the GPS info, unless you have that completely shut down, anyone with decent research skills can determine the exact location where a photo was taken, just remember though, a high rise hotel has X number of floors and the GPS info can't tell exactly which floor =)
